I think Mike should be canonized.

Not only did he save Kent, give himself up to save Krista, and got first head of household whose duties he discharged with singular distinction, but he also wears holey headgear, writes rhyming hymns to departing souls, suffers gladly, and is a star in the heavens of Hollywood.

I don't understand why everyone is on a "poor Kent" trip. He brought this treatment on himself by plotting against members of his own team before CT was out of the game. Plus he's spent the past two days sulking like a spoiled child because BB didn't give him what he wanted. The rest of the house tried to include him, but he chose to go pout in the HOH room.

just like everyone else whatsitsay .{plotting etc etc}..krista not only was upset that kent got what he wanted which i think was pretty smart of him but she started all that stuff because she wanted beer and nicole used the last for the fish. she is evil and chemically dependent for that matter.. sorry but everyone else needs to get the same feeling kent has now they all r playing the same way...

It was a very thoughtful and nice speech. I feel for him but I also cannot forget the disgressions he has made to the others ...I am not saying the others are perfect either... all that I am saying is that I wish he would have followed these feelings and beliefs from the start. He has been guilty of bad mouthing and down right disrespectful ... I do appreiciate that he has maybe come away with some lessons... that is all we can ever hope for from any life situation. jmo

I liked it! I thought it was odd that Hardy gave his own speech right before the W<N<H meeting the night before and also said you don't know unless your here and winning is really loosing. I guess that house just does something to you.

I thought it was a fine speech. He admitted he wasn't perfect and he learned quite a few things about himself and so I applaud him. He & Bunky are the only ones I'd be happy to meet. And I should probably go down to BELLYS (I'm in LA) and tell the Star Nose Picker Mike exactly what I think! (I'm an English sitcom writer.)

Thanks everyone for your reasoned responses. I didn't actually get to hear Kent's speech. I was watching the feed showing Mike and Krista practicing what they were going to say to Julie when she asks them "What was it like this week for you being nominated?" on the live show this thursday. They both were going to deflect her question and verbally jab Kent with some pointed comments (Mike about "visiting friends and relatives in Knoxville" while looking at Kent and Krista about saying Kent "will be gone soon").

I knew that Kent was sitting by himself outside during this but I thought he was just smoking. Little did I know he was saying how shallow and self-serving these people were - but then I was watching a perfect example of this.

You see, I spent a year in LA. I got caught up in the fast life with a bunch of acting "friends" - all wannabe "stars" strung out on coke, dreaming big dreams but getting nowhere but older all the time. And yes, for a while I got blinded by the stars in my eyes and brushes with celebrity "divinity" that somehow lifted me to a higher plane. Or so I thought.

I finally woke up after a year and moved way up north. Now don't get me wrong, there are some things about LA I still love and always will: the endless sunny days, the freedom to experiement and re-invent, the general exuberance that begat both Disneyland and Venice Beach. But that industry - Hollywood - is a tough one. It puffs people up and spits them out with yesterday's trash. Everything's good as long as you can pull in the number$$$. Last year we just had one houseguest who was an admitted "Hollywood." This years? I think we all know the answer to that question.

Yes, Kent is not a perfect human being. But he has the courage to look into himself and his surroundings and see that something isn't right. Maybe he's not quite at the point of taking full responsibility for all of his actions. But I'd take Kent's soliloquy over Will's "I'm America's Biggest Liar" confession any day.

HEAR HEAR, RealityX!!!!

PS. Actually I find Hollywood quite pleasant ; most everyone I meet has been amazingly amiable and kind. Still, I must say I do find English & Australian actors a great deal easier to scrape along with -- I once had a run-in with an American TV star (see WEST WING) over a parking space; parking spaces seem to be a huge f***ing deal over here.

Bravo Kent!!
Watching the last few days has literally made my stomach turn. Krista threatening to direct rude comments about kent to his 7 year old daughter and egging mike on to keep talking about kents family and mike just for being the vile spoiled brat that he is.
It is nice to see someone who really gets "it" Yes as part of the game kent has made some errors in judgement speaking too freely with the wrong people, but when it was Hardy being abused last week kent stood up for him "had his back" Hardy jumped ship in no time and left kent to twist in the wind. Whatever happens kent can go home and not have to hide his face in shame (except for some of the stories he's told)he is a man with character and morals something the rest of the house is lacking.
As for kent never having a chance at winning the game because he's to old and is only there for the older views-Tina was over 40 and richard was too I think or at least close to 40.

i liked kent's speech too. i don't think he's perfect, but i'd like to see him get away from the nasty people in there. it seems like he won't get the car if he takes a vol exit, but heck, i'd chip in to get him the car. i'm really feeling for the guy right now. i know he signed up for it, but what a HORRIBLE experience!

A BB to Anonymous and this BB stands for BIG BRAVO for transcribing Kent's speech.

I did like the speech but I wonder if it was given in reaction to Mike's bothering him about the nominations and bringing up Kent's daughters or is it something that the HOH has to do before he goes back to being an Hg?

Sorry, I'm slow in catching up but I'm getting there....

Why did Kent give a speech? I'm lost. And when did Will's plan of getting Nicole to manipulate one of the other HG's and then vote to keep Mike in go arye? Yes, I admit it, I'm looking for a quick fix without having to search the LF's. Anybody willing to help out a gal? lol

Dov,

if you click on the Archived folder (above) you'll find the speech in its entirety (graciously transcribed by a certain "anonymous).
Someone else told me that Kent gave that speech in reaction to Mike's pestering Kent about the nominations. Go, read it, it's pretty good.

Sorry, scratch the question about Kent's speech. I understand that it was just a little impromtu speach he made to the camera.

I listened to the entire speech and I really wished there was an interactive button so I could tell him he's not alone. Everyone, except Bunky treated him like a plague for something that everyone has consistently been guilty of. He got caught lying about his top 3 choices, so big deal! Everyone is guilty of so much more- i.e. disloyalty and vile backstabbing/scheming. I have issues with his crude comments and boasting but he's always been honest and sensible. He has valid reasons to doubt Krista and Hardy and even Nicole and they are all running scared of being exposed by Kent esp after Krista's nomination. The HGs see him as a threat mainly because he reads them so well. So I feel bad for Kent because once again, he is right in his assessments and that just messes up the game for the other houseguests.

O I ?

Mike needs to be canonized? To be canonized, you've got to be dead. I guess you want Mike to be shot by a Canon?

Or were you just being sarcastic?

I actually cried when I read Kent's speech!! I'm a bit of a family person! I too think that family and friends are more important than money or fame.

I also thought his speech was terrific, although I feel that it lost him lots of points with the rest of the HG . I don't know how honest Kent really is. I think his "friendship" with Bunky may be part of the game.

Of course it is ... and Kent can play it either way when he gets out ... if person if tolerant, then Kent will say that he learned alot from his new gay friend ... if person is phobic, then Kent will say that he was only playing the (gay) game ...

but leave Kent's kids out of this!!! :)
