What day... hmmm... As soon as I wrap up some important buisness investments in Malaysia and Candyland I will get on my private jet and fly out to LA to roll with you n Kitee... lol.. HA ! I walked by Belly last night and peeked in - very early so it was just employees...
But there was a sign outside posted by the city notifying the public of an application for a change of OWNERSHIP of Belly. It is probably still posted out there this week.
I suppose I could find out what's going on by public records but does anyone else have more energy or interest? |

Well, according to what Kent posted in his thread here, Lonnie might have given Mike 1% ownership in the bar in exchange for all the publicity he got for them by being on BB2. Kent said he was told by the "handlers" that they couldn't find anything in Mike's background check to indicate any ownership of the bar at all. This would all follow very well with the information that smokinggun.com has been posting. |

Well, now I'm really confused, because here is the email I received in response to my initial inquiry at West Hollywood City Hall:
Madelane,
A request for Public Records Inspection submitted through our City Clerks
office will yield any information from our records that is not personal in
nature. Our records do not indicate any change in ownership of this
establishment. Our records reflect owner as a Michael Carri/ Moore-Malin
Enterprises. The signage you saw posted may have been from the Alcohol
Beverage Control Board which is responsible for licensing liquor sales in
the state of California. They do notice when there is an application to
transfer a liquor license. Name of owner of a business is always public
record and should be available through their website. ABC's local phone
number is (555) 555-5555 in case you are unable to locate their website.
If I can be of further assistance please contact me.

So, (me again), I will investigate further but Lord knows I don't have the resources the smokinggun people do. I am just satisfying my curiosity. The sign definitely said change in ownership, but I don't know much about licenses and things. I'll look into it I guess.

Madelane, we posted the owner of the liqeur license already weeks ago in the "conspiracy thread".Look there. It was renewed 24 hours before Mike left the BB house again.

Thanks, Ewing. But the reason I brought all this up is the new sign outside. It was just put up last weekend. I just wonder if that means the ownership is changing AGAIN and to whom. But I will drop it if it's just old news. |

The application to change ownership was filed for their liquor license, and I believe it was dated July 31st. Apparently Belly had previous owners and when Mike and Lonnie bought it, they did not bother to file for a change of ownership with the California ABC (grants liquor licenses). Once the news came out that Mike wasn't listed as owner on Belly's license (or any license), I'm sure that Lonnie figured he'd better do it and get the i's dotted and t's crossed before the bar got in trouble.
Once the application is received, the notice goes up for a period of time before the application is approved. |

So you live in LA? Did you ever see Mike, Lonnie Moore or Adolpho Suyala there?

BTW: Do you know Heidi Siegmund-Cola of the LA Times who once claimed that "two ex-TV execs" are owner of the bar (guestbook website/april)? |

Ewing, not sure if you were talking to me or Voyeur about LA but I'll answer.
And thanks to Voyeur for explaining everything, that's probably exactly why that sign is outside.
I have only been to Belly once, aside from Sunday, and Mike wasn't there. It was last Saturday. I don't know what Lonnie and Adolpho look like.
I have seen Josh, though! He was at the Troubadour with a date. She was pretty but I didn't recognize her from anywhere.
I did read the Heidi Siegmund-Cuda (not Cola, hee hee)column about Belly and I noted the comment but didn't think much about it. I haven't met Heidi but we go to all the same places. I could always introduce myself and get the lowdown. |
