BBFC Staff paid positions
The ClubHouse: Big Brother Archives: BBFC Staff paid positions
| Trumn | Saturday, August 11, 2001 - 03:39 pm Hi BBFC...a quick question...I assume all of the live posters are volunteering their time but wondered if the Moderators were paid staff? How does one get hired to be a Moderator? How many hours a week is the commitment? What is the hourly compensation? Seems like a great job to me! Jack M. (Trumn @ aol.com) |
| Lancecrossfire | Saturday, August 11, 2001 - 03:51 pm Trumn, moderators are just like LFPs--no money involved. We are people who post on the board, love TVCH and want to see it succeed. I think the time each moderator puts in is dependent upon a number of tings--work schedule, nonwork issues that come up, vacations during the year--things like that. During BB, the time needed is more than when Survivor is on. Time needed during Survivor is more than when there aren't any reality shows on. Right now I put in about 60 hours a week. Most of it is just reading as much as possible to see if there are questions, problems posters want respolved, identifying problem posts, and keeping the board in a condition so that it can be as fast as possible and still have as much to post to as possible (a fine line to be sure). Other moderators focus on other areas (Try takes care of the live deed posting area, for instance), and others also do what I do. (it's impossible to see and catch everything). It's also impossible to catch everything when it happens, so some things get missed because some areas have so much traffic. Neil has ultimate choice on who he picks to be a moderator. |
| Trumn | Saturday, August 11, 2001 - 05:12 pm Thanks for the information... 60 hours a week! that's incredible! You deserve to be paid for that kind of dedication! |
| Lancecrossfire | Saturday, August 11, 2001 - 05:24 pm Trumn, while I can't speak for the other moderators (although I believe they feel the same as me), I don't really feel like I deserve to be paid. Neil actually started this board because he was a fan of the first BB. It was kind of a "hobby" for him, if I remember correctly. It ended up being something that grew into more than he imagined. So, there ends up really not being any money involved...note that Bomis currently supports Neil's site for no cost. (thanks again Jimbo!!!!) So going into this, it's known no money is involved. (so I feel none is deserved) For me it's the opposite. I've gotten a lot out of being a part of this board for just over a year. To me it's the desire to give back to something I've gotten so much from. Again, I can't speak for the other moderators, although I do believe they feel the same way. |
