CBS darling KRISTA judging Miss USA right now!!!!!!!
The ClubHouse: Big Brother Archives: CBS darling KRISTA judging Miss USA right now!!!!!!!
| Julieee | Wednesday, August 22, 2001 - 11:17 pm I don't see the big deal in Krista judging a beauty pagent either. I was never a fan of hers, but if these little gigs can make a better life for her and her daughter... then I say go for it. I thought she looked very lovley tonight. |
| Snee | Wednesday, August 22, 2001 - 11:22 pm i just posted the text of a 'time' article in the 'press coverage' section of 'outside the house'. the time writer responsible for the article in the notebook section of the magazine seems to think krista is the most popular houseguest. they either watched one episode and believed krista that she was the most popular or talked to arnie because she is definitely HIS most popular. anyway, i don't begrudge krista her chance to do celebrity stuff, but it irks this snee to see the media jump on a rickety bandwagon. don't these people research?!? |
| Snee | Wednesday, August 22, 2001 - 11:30 pm here's the url: BB2 Press Coverage oh, i recall that some poster above said something like 'we can safely say that krista is the most popular' (apology if that's not completely verbatim) but i disagree. we can't say that unless all the viewer polls say that and i don't think they do. perhaps, judging by the posts about her, we can say that she is the most controversial hg, but popularity implies generally positive feelings. krista certainly inspires feelings, but not all of them are positive. if i've missed a poll, please send me directions to snee it. again, as for the pageant, whatever. i hope she and laken had a good time. the MADD connection is awkward i would say, but i'm with bunny on this one. the more coverage hg's get, the more likely there will be a bb3. and i can be thankful that we're not seeing more of mike or shannon. i can take or leave most of the hgs--even krista now--but i haven't been able to like mike or shannon, mike moreso. eww. |
| Whit4you | Wednesday, August 22, 2001 - 11:35 pm The winning teen gets a full scholorship to college etc... I personally would be VERY offended if the person making that determination was an admitted drug user - someone who has done a deadly drug 2 or 3 times ..oh no wait 3 or 4 times...(at least that was her last admitted count) and who gave herself the name Special K - the street name for a deadly drug that's killing teens. Someone who makes those choices - obviously does not make smart choices and certainly shouldn't be choosing the next Ms Teen America. |
| Kat | Wednesday, August 22, 2001 - 11:47 pm I was never a Krista fan. I have to say, I thought she looked beautiful tonight. I think she has every right to accept any opportunity that comes her way because of the show. Good for her! I honestly hope that she does well. She's out of the house,I've moved on from how I felt about her. |
| Azriel | Thursday, August 23, 2001 - 12:33 am Just a note for anyone reading this thread. I misunderstood something that Dulci posted and I asked that my responsive posts be moderated. Thank you, 007 |
| Metal_Girl | Thursday, August 23, 2001 - 02:49 am Well...I'd just like to point something out here, about some peoples concerns over Krista being held up as a role model for little girls and teens everywhere... Just let me preface this with a VERY strong opinion of mine concerning so called celebrity role models, be they Sports stars, Musicians or even Actors and Actresses. These people are NOT role models, and any parent who allows their child to look upon some person they have no way of knowing, as a role model, should (IMO) have their head examined! Anyway...My daughter and I watch BB together each and every week and have not missed a single show yet...I have read most of the Live Feed updates here aloud to her as well...I don't let her read them herself just in case they contain the sexual exploits we were all subjected to that night in the hot tub, lol. Anyway, I read them to her, and as we go along, I stop to explain what all the different drugs that the various houseguests have experimented with are. I even throw in a few first hand horror stories I have (friends I've lost over the years to drugs) to drill home just how completely retarded it is to start using in the first place. So, she has heard all their stories (and mine), and has seen what doing drugs can do to some peoples lives. I have used all these stories as yet another lesson in my ongoing crusade to stop her from ever taking drag ONE off a joint, little lone doing a hit of acid, X, or whatever the hell else they come up with next. Now...Here's the thing...My daughter is a typical little girl with stars in her eyes who loves to get all gussied up and play with moms make-up and heels...She has been looking forward to watching this pageant since the first day she heard about it...I'm not sure exactly when it was, but at some point tonight we saw Krista and two other people (Mandy Moore?), announcing that she would be on Miss Teen USA. My daughters jaw dropped when she saw that, and as soon as she was able to speak, to my surprise...announced she wasn't gonna watch it. Some people may think it's just because I have bad mouthed the woman...This isn't the case, I can assure you. I don't hate Krista, I feel sorry for her, as does my 11 year old kid...When I asked her why she no longer wanted to watch the show, she informed me (total PP here) that she didn't think Krista should be judging anyone considering her lack of good judgement concerning drugs. Do I agree with her? Maybe I do, maybe I don't. I'm not sure how I feel about all this pageant business. For me, things are very rarely, black and white. I see most things in life as different shades of grey. What is crystal clear though (to me at least), is that she knows of Kristas 'drug & party tales' and has no use for her, at least not in the context of judging others anyway. So...I guess that what I'm trying to say here is that parents need to take responsibility for raising their own children and being the best role model their child can have. Not handing over the job to some nobody on thir TV screens or in their sports arenas. You don't have to be perfect to be a good role model to your child, just love them enough to try and be the best person you possibly can. - MG |
| Ocean_Islands | Thursday, August 23, 2001 - 04:11 am Well who won? |
| Judy | Thursday, August 23, 2001 - 06:19 am Missouri won OI- I think Krista WAS a last minute addition to the judge roster- she is the only 1 of the 8 judges who are not featured on the official Teen USA site. http://www.missteenusa.com/mainevent/judges.html |
| Hardy | Thursday, August 23, 2001 - 07:04 am we had a dinner party last night and of a vote of 15 to 2 it was in the majority that Krista was overdressed....bordering on Edited! i like the girl but she needs some professinal help and her heart is in a good place. it was clear to all that her eyes were not twitching this time cos they were so glazed over from whatever she popped. oh well! (007) |
| Studioblue | Thursday, August 23, 2001 - 07:06 am From kiara: AAnyone else think Miss. Texas majorly F%@ked up when she said teenagers should NOT be having kids. I was laughing out loud....There goes Krista's vote. ---- No kidding,Kiara! First she said that they should get an education-but then she didn't want daycare in the high schools so they could. BTW...SHOUT OUT to my homegirl Miss Washington DC..who actually made the final ten!!! Nice work! |
| Seamonkey | Thursday, August 23, 2001 - 10:05 am I didn't think about her being glazed over but during her intro, I thought Krista looked nervous and subdued (I chalked part of that up to it being her first appearance).. I thought she looked nice tho overdressed. I noticed that the applause for her was subdued but figured that had more to do with the lack of a large group of BB fans in the audience.. Elisabeth looked wonderful, responded to her intro with sparkle and verve, and got a great round of applause. As for Laken being "into the pageant scene".. I think she was in one pageant but the pageant scene would require WAY WAY more money than they have.. since Laken was in a pageant, I sure hope she got to see this one live!!! And, see her mom live too. |
| Hooked | Thursday, August 23, 2001 - 11:19 am Although Krista was dressed up more than the other judges, I thought she looked very nice. Certainly not Edited! Maybe after Krista has seen how others live, she will be inspired to change her life. I was not a huge Krista fan; I would never condone the drinking and drugs, but give her a break, she looked nice. If she can make a little more money off the BB2 publicity, she should go for it (007) |
| Weinermr | Thursday, August 23, 2001 - 01:39 pm OK. Here we go again. NO ONE in or evicted from that house is the kind of role model that a teenager should have. They all have behaved terribly along the way. American society's choice of role models for children is terrible terrible terrible. Why not put a row of teachers, firefighters, police men and women, philanthropists, etc. How about people who are heros in a small way in their every day lives. Krista a role model?? NO WAY Shannon, Autumn, etc. NO NO NO I love watching this show, but I certainly don't look up to any of these people. |
| Eaglemagic | Thursday, August 23, 2001 - 01:14 pm Krista looked very poised and beautiful on the pagaent, but I am shocked they picked her to be one of the judges. I am also surprised there isn't already a thread on this topic, so I am wondering if I am posting in the wrong place!!! She admitted, on the live feeds, that she does ecstacy and they chose HER to be a judge on the pagaent? Elizabeth, America's Sweetheart from Survivor 2, was also on it. Does that mean that Krista is America's Sweetheart from BB2? I don't think the people from the pagaent really knew much about Krista or they wouldn't have chosen her. |
| Franny | Thursday, August 23, 2001 - 01:16 pm There was one last night..don't know what happened to it. |
| Fluffy | Thursday, August 23, 2001 - 01:16 pm Perhaps, they were trying to give her an opportunity to make money. |
| Maggierain | Thursday, August 23, 2001 - 02:04 pm I thought she was quite beautiful and poised also. In the intro-commercial, she looked happy and sassy, like she was having fun. I am proud for her and Elisabeth of Survivor. I give Krista credit for trying to improve life by doing more than just wishing ... she took the extra step that many of us just sit around talking about, when there are things we would like to try. Too often we say "I would like to do that" or "I wish I had a chance to try that." but we don't make a genuine effort. She did more than wish. I think she is brave for trying to break out of the only world she has known. We all make mistakes while trying to make it through life. She has bounced back from more than many of us will ever fully understand. Throughout everything, she has kept hope alive ... as I've said before, where would any of us be without it. Perhaps her judging the pageant and successes have brought a smile to her angels... I wish Krista & her daughter the best of life and kinder people for their future. |
| Lardbrick | Thursday, August 23, 2001 - 02:31 pm Krista had better tone down that twang if she wants to work in roles that have speaking parts. After a while it grates on your nerves...... |
| Maggierain | Thursday, August 23, 2001 - 02:35 pm Well, I don't think she will do the International news on CNN or anything. I don't even talk around our video camera ... I get on my OWN nerves. haha |
| Plato | Thursday, August 23, 2001 - 02:37 pm It's been said before, I have to say it again: Shannon would have been a much better choice for this gig than Krista was. |
| Maggierain | Thursday, August 23, 2001 - 02:41 pm I don't remember Shannon promoting (not saying that she didn't) the Miss Teen USA pageant ... where I did hear Krista mention it a few times. I am sure her daughter was thrilled about it all. I know I would have been, heck I am and I don't even know Krista. Either person, it was wonderful opportunity. |
| Lardbrick | Thursday, August 23, 2001 - 02:42 pm Plato, Do you think the toothbrush incident tarnished Shannon's image for any future public appearances? No advertisement company would touch her with a hundred foot pole knowing that. Maybe Krista was their second choice. |
| Bohawkins | Thursday, August 23, 2001 - 02:51 pm Last year the Miss Teen Age America contest was held in Bossier City, Louisiana. That may have prompted her interest in it earlier and was the reaon for her mention of it on the show. This year it was in Padre Island, Texas, which is not far from her home town, although Shannon is a native of Texas, if regional origin was any consideration. I believe that Shannon simply has very little appeal. Her best bet may be the girlie mag spreads, which seems to be the destiny for many of the reality tv gals. |
| Texannie | Thursday, August 23, 2001 - 03:21 pm Padre isn't close to La..well, I guess it is compared to Florida or California! LOL Padre is in the sw part of Texas down near Mexico. It would probably be at least an 8 hour drive. |
| John | Thursday, August 23, 2001 - 03:27 pm I'm just wondering, if Krista hadn't been voted out, would Monica have been a judge? Seems like a little self promotion on the part of CBS. Tacky self promotion, using Krista especially. Hey, how about Kent as a pageant host? Couldn't be any worse than Bill Shatner was earlier in the year. How about it Kent? |
| Highlander | Thursday, August 23, 2001 - 03:31 pm Nope Kent wouldnt have been acceptable considering all his admitted drinking in his past. Those MADD folks shouldnt let him be a judge either. |
| Curtisahahahaha | Thursday, August 23, 2001 - 03:41 pm And we all know Krista has no drinking problem. |
| Sfnative | Thursday, August 23, 2001 - 04:25 pm I think that Shannon will go down in her "very short" period of fame, as the "toilet lady". If she actually was offered a spread in Playboy magazine, and she accepts it, I can't imagine many men would be turned on by her (the point of the magazine after all...even though everyone buys if for the interviews...LOL). Besides locking their toothbrushes up in a safe, most men would probably be invisioning "bear traps" or strategically placed "razor blades". |
| Rissa | Friday, August 24, 2001 - 07:14 am Caught a newblurb last night that said the pageant was the 2nd LEAST watched one in it's history. The very least watched was last years, *poor* Krista can't catch a break. |
| Eddiesleg | Friday, August 24, 2001 - 10:04 pm Interesting Rissa....I wonder if it had anything to do with their choice of judges? A possible viewership boycott? |
