6/30/03  Well yes, I was gone last week ;)  Sorry folks I was on a vacation last week so I am in major catch-up mode at the moment, I recorded all my fav reality shows and will update all links needed and the information you might be seeking in the next day or so.

Biggest news I have found so far is that TV Guide is reporting that the "Twist" in Big Brother 4 will be that, "Some of the housemates will be stunned to discover that they're competing against ex loves."  Now I have already read OTHER reports that this news is not correct so take it for what its worth.  The story in TV Guide can be found here (at least today).

I have managed to catch up on "Paradise Hotel" - thats the one show I have watched on tape and I must say I like the concept more, the new guy seemed to be a genuine off the street kinda person and has really thrown a wrench in all the other folks plans!!

6/24/03  USA Today article: "On Wednesday, the world marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of George Orwell, whose relevance has not only endured but increased with time."  <snip> "The TV reality show Big Brother is just one testament to Orwell's genius for popularizing the scariness of authorities that seek total control over people's lives. "

6/20/03 Amazing Race moves right along. The father/son team came in last this past evening which didn't surprise me after I noticed they were basically missing the last 20 minutes of the show.  You could tell at the detour that they pretty much knew they were history as they stopped to take in the view together.  I came across a cool little video on the official site yesterday which gives you a peek at what the host Phil has to do while everyone else is dashing about, you might check it out here(you need Real Player to view it).

Too much reality?  I know I have been suffering overload.  It appears I am not alone - in an article today on Jam! Showbiz's site it looks like several of the new shows are off to a slow start, "That bright idea to cram a billion contest/reality shows into network schedules this summer may have backfired. Ratings are slipping faster than airline stock. NBC's Fame, FOX's American Juniors and For Love And Money all failed to crack the 10-million viewer mark..." (Full Article)

One show I won't be getting too much of is my favorite "Reality" show:

More details turning up - only 18 days to go!!!  Big Brother 4 Area

Here comes the weekend, you have a chance to catch a little breather from most shows and prepare for the Mon-Wed blitz once again.  If you missed the 1st episode of Boarding House you might check it out Sunday night on WB.  That or any of the MTV shows that usually repeat during the weekend!!

6/19/03 Two new shows began last night and I managed to catch both.

Paradise Hotel: I have no clue what the "Prize" is on this show but I did find it interesting to watch the couples pair up and the odd person (a female this week) all alone in her room throwing 'lil fits over things.  I'm not impressed with a couple of the guys but then again the main idea of this show is about "beautiful people"trying to hook up and stay in the hotel while a new person will be added each week as one is eliminated.  I thought it was going to be live but I have a feeling its been taped several weeks ago.  So even if you do send in an application don't expect to make it.  By the way people with kids need not apply.  From now on it will air on Mondays AND Wednesdays.

Boarding House: Its only on for 6 weeks and if you missed last nights show it will repeat on Sunday.  I dunno - it was okay... but nothing that special.  Maybe the women who want a male version of Surf Girls will like it since this one has 4 guys (and 3 women).  Not being a surf fan (hey I live in Indiana - what do you expect??) I had never heard of "Sunny" whom I guess is quite famous in the surf world. But man the guy has a short fuse, I would expect a fight, or potential one every week.  I assumed from the promos that he was knocking down one of his "roomates" but I think it will turn out to be just another surfer who ticked him off.

If you missed FAME last night you missed a "Shcking" revelation.  Ok, maybe not that shocking.  It turns out one of the guys (Harlemm Lee) lied about his age, he listed it as 20-something - turns out he is 36!!  Its not cause for disqualification (there was no age-limit) he simply felt like he didn't stand a chance when he saw all those 21 year-olds auditioning.  As he said after he and Debbie revealed his secret, "Lets hear it for the old folks!"  I agreee - I hope he stays around for a bit!!

I missed Making the Band, thankfully MTV airs it several times, and American Juniors (nothing lost for me there, kid talent shows just don't do it for me).

6/18/03 FAME:  The audience gets to vote now - 2 hour special tonight - they have cut the contestants down to 12.  The voting is a toll free number.  They have said they have limited it so you can only call in 5 times from each phone line.   Next week 2 of the 12 will be eliminated.  Through 7/1/03 you can also stil try to get on the show as a spoiler - see the casting area for a link.

6/17/03 Did you see Tonya (Big Brother 3), Chadwick (Road Rules Australia) and George (Big Brother 1) on AMC Monday?  If not you can read a summary by a TV Clubhouse member over here!!!  Short and sweet - George is the same guy and Tonya got her Playboy shoot but then nixed the "Women of Reality TV" spread they had planned - bummer ;)

6/16/03 Lots of stuff going on tonight of course - you can see the line-up over on the right.  Not listed is the AMC special "TheAMC Project: Reality People" - details & links can be found in the Big Brother area since 2 formaer members (George & Tonya) will be in it.  Airs at 10pm tonight.

I came across an interesting article yesterday in the LA Times titled, "TV gets its PhD."  It talks about the study of reality shows - you can read it here.

6/14/03 Its the weekend - time to catch up on REAL LIFE!! :)  If you are looking for a last minute gift for Dad and he is a video game nut - check out the Amazon Specials I came across today - lots of items under $10 and FREE shipping.  Might expire at any time.  Its also the last day to order the Free software through Amazon.  Enjoy the weekend!!!

6/13/03 Casting link to the Sci-Fi CHannel Show "Mad Mad House" added to the Casting Page This show will have self-described witches, trekkers, vampires and more.

If you missed last nights "Amazing Race" you can catch up over at the TVClubhouse  AR discussion area.

6/12/03 Amazing Race Episode 3 on tonight.  Be sure to check it out!!! (can you tell its one of my favorite shows?)

Next Week:
  • American Juniors will begin running on Tuesdays and Wednesdays and already they are bringing in American Idol folks - looks like they will be dragging this show (which I am not watching by the way) out like they did with AI II.
  • Paradise Hotel premires on Fox on Wednesday.
  • WB will premire the six week stint of "Boarding House : North Shore" on Wednesday a surfing reality show sure to be a bit rowdier than Surf Girls.
  • Making the Band season 5 begins on MTV on Wednesday.
And the week after that... Wednesday looks mighty full too!

More American Idol alum dates announced...  in addition to those I listed on 6/5 below here are some more dates for Justin & Kelly:

June 18: Justin Guarini - American Juniors (FOX)
June 19: Kelly & Justin - TRL (MTV)
June 19: Kelly & Justin - Early Show (CBS)
June 19: Justin Guarini - The View (ABC, 11AM)

6/11/03 New "Reality Show" Casting info:  Fox is casting for a new show called "Soundmix" - apparently its a show lots of other countries have had.  Folks get to be made up and perform as their favorite singer.  More show details HERE.  Casting Details (currently 6/20-6/22 in Hollywood) HERE.

Fox is also still casting for the show "Anything For Love" Details on the Casting Page.

6/10/03 Celebrity Mole II has finished filming and will be shown later this year.   Cast info at the Show Page.  Ahmad, Corbin and Steven B. return.

Whats the deal with Tuesday nights??? I count SIX reality shows on tonight.  Come on guys (broadcast companies) - spread 'em out a little!!!! Osbournes season 3 and Last Comic Standing premire tonight.

6/9/03 For Love or Money down to 5 and Rob's past catches up with him.
Apparently Rob was dismissed from the military for a drunken incident a few years ago.  The Smoking Gun has all the details.

NBC pulled a fast one on viewers of For Love or Money  - they dragged the show out an extra 5 minutes just like ABC did with The Bachelor.  Hey guys - thats ticks off the folks with their VCRs set to record only an hour!!!

6/8/03  Totally off topic:  I have come across at least 9 FREE items (I keep finding more and adding them) on Amazon (through 6/14).  Details here.

Reality Special on AMC.  "Reality People" - June 16th 10pm, "Follow two "Big Brother" personalities and a "Road Rules" participant as they strive to hang on to fame and find showbiz fortune. See a popular "Big Brother" mom pose for "Playboy" magazine and a "Road Rules" favorite try to be Hollywood's next action star.
Not sure who the Road Rules person is - but the Big Brother mom is Tonya from BB3.  See the Big Brother area for more info.

6/7/03 ESPN has ordered a new reality show: "The cable sports network has ordered 13 episodes of "The Wild Rules," which plants a dozen hardy souls in the forests of British Columbia without food or water and only such supplies as fish hooks and axes.  Two teams of six -- each comprising fishing, hunting and military experts -- will compete in a race that will award one contestant $100,000. "  (Full Story
No info available on the ESPN site yet - as soon as it is I will update the Casting page.

6/6/03 The Apprentice will be having open casting calls in June and July at several cities. Info on the Casting Page.

6/5/03 Amazing Race is on again tonight - don't forget to watch!!!

American Idol upcoming TV appearances:

June 10: Justin, Clay, and Ruben Performances - Oprah Winfrey (4PM, ABC)

June 12: Kelly & Justin - Regis & Kelly (ABC, 9:00 am)
June 17: Justin Guarini - The View (ABC, 11AM)

6/3/03 The Family will finally return to ABC on July 30th.  This from info posted by a member at the TV Clubhouse.  Welcome news indeed as this was a fun show!  There will be a 2 hour re-cap show and then the last 6 episodes will be shown on Wednesday nights.

Not another Joe Millionaire........ sorry folks, after watching last nights premire the guy from For Love or Money seems LESS intelligent than Joe Millionaire did.  Can't blame the ladies that are going to go for the million and lead him on.

Casting info for a new show from the makers of Real World.  The show will be filmed in Chicago and is called "Starting Over."

6/2/03 FAME is being re-run on Bravo (several times per episode) - if you miss an episode you can catch it there.   I recommend it!!

Cupid teaser:  Extra TV also has a video teaser about this show.

5/29/03 Don't forget the Amazing Race starts tonight.  Come on over to the TVClubhouseand join in the discussion!!

5/28/03 FAME!!  I have to admit I didn't know if I would like this show, but the 2 hour premire was great.  Not just singers, dancers too.  I liked the show and will be sure to tune in next week.  These kids have talent!  You can also still get on the show - see the Casting Page for details.

5/27/03 BIG BROTHER NEWS!!!
Show will begin (on TV) on July 8th - 8pm - I have updated the Countdown timer.  You can read more in the Big Brother area.

5/25/03 So is "The Family" cancelled or not??  TV guide reports it was 'officially' cancelled on May 15th (link).  Of course that same page lists Mr. Personality and other shows which ran to completion so who knows.  I can't believe ABC would drop that show, George H. was excellent and the whole cast was fun to watch.  You can discuss it over at TVClubhouse and hopefully keep up to date.

In todays news:

"LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Simon Cowell won't return to judge a third edition of "American Idol" -- unless he does.

Cowell, the harshly critical record executive who's become as big a star as any of the "Idol" performers, has been distancing himself from the show practically since the stage went dark after Wednesday's (May 21) finale. But FOX executives say they'll do what they can to keep him in the fold." (Read the rest here)

My take - He'll be back - originally Fox wanted to run AI again in the fall and he said no to that, but come January he might be ready again, or maybe he will let someone else do the initial screening (Ryan?).

So who really is #1? Okay, I prefer Ruben, but it seems those that shop on AMAZON prefer Clay.  As of this writing Clay's single is #1 while Ruben's single is #4.

5/22/03 A big congrats to Ruben and Clay - the show was WAY to long but they both did a great job this go round on American Idol.  Their CD Singles are already for sale and are #1 & #2 on Amazon - Click here to see the list of available American Idol items on Amazon including both singles!!

5/19/03 Well, one crop of shows is over and another is set to begin.  I missed the last episode of "The Bachelor" thanks to ABC putting the final show on a Sunday.  Oh well.

With a new crop of shows starting, here is how my Reality TV Viewing might be shaping up in a typical week:

Will I really watch all those every week?  Heck no, but its nice to know my options!!

516/03 If you have ever tried to find Reality related items you know it can be a royal pain to search Amazon.  I have set up a page with almost every single reality related item I could find (almost 100 items).  So if you want something related to American Idol, Survivor, Real World, etc, check it out!  Reality Item Shop.

A lot of new shows are starting in the next week or two so enjoy the mini-break while it lasts!! Details soon.

5/15/03 Can I just say to ABC and FOX that I am getting sick of the way they are dragging everything out lately?  The Bachelor has a 2 hour final show on Sunday and FOX will be showing THREE episodes of American Idol next week.  Give me a break!

5/14/03 High School Reunion & Surreal Life will both be back this Fall.  WB has ordered second runs of both shows according to media reports.

5/13/03 Bob is the New Bachelor!!  Yup that jokester Bob from Bachelorette will be the next Bachelor.  Smart move ABC.  Check the Casting Page for links to apply to be Bob's Bride :)

5/9/03  Created a page where you can find a lot of Reality TV stuff listed on E-bay.   Check it out and let me know if there is something I should add!! E-bay items.

5/8/03 PBS has another "reality show" on the air.  Its only four parts but it puts modern day folks back in ancient history to live as Gladiators, Vikings, etc.  The show is called Warrior Challenge.

5/8/03 Big Brother premire.... nope, no word yet but since Amazing Race should be on Thursdays when Big Brother starts, my guess now is that it will premire on the first or second Thursday of July wih the first live eviction the following night.  That being said, I don't know if they would show it on July 4th (a Friday) so I am going to now guess that the show will premire on July 10th before or after Amazing Race.

5/7/03  I fired up the way-back machine and posted a song from Big Brother I.  The Hgs  wrote & recorded it while in the house.

5/5/2003 AMAZING RACE!! May 29th CONFIRMED!!

4/30/03 Amazing Race FINALLY?
A Canadian Station (CTV) has reported they will be airing Amazing Race starting May 29th.  Yay!
While CBS may air it sooner or at the same time, nice to know it will be on before Big Brother starts.

Dog Eat Dog returns:
According to NBC's site, Dog Eat Dog will return to the Monday lineup in May.

Bachelor runs overtime:
In a note from a member over at TVClubhouse, it seems that ABC is pulling a little bit of a fast one by running Bachelor for 65-70 minutes the last couple of shows (and tonights).  Her best guess (and I agree) is they are doing it to get folks to stay on the channel for Extreme Makeover.  Problem is, some folks record the show and might end up missing the last 5-10 minutes, so pass the word to any friends that you know record it!!

Born to Diva:
I missed last nights show but caught the premire, if you want a show similar to American Idol, then this might be the ticket.  It has a bit more gossipy kinda stuff (catty maybe?) as well, similar to Nashville Star perhaps.

Manor House:
Having now seen a couple of episodes of this show now I am not sure what to think, it seems pretty 'dark' to me and not as much fun as the other similar shows along this vein.  The folks involved don't seem to be enjoying themselves much at all.

4/08/03 I have been doing lots of little things but today I added some more 'major' stuff I guess...  Updated my "Virus" page and added a new FOTH simulation made up of foth images from BB3.

3/26/03 Created and uploaded the Big Brother Countdown app.  I still have not seen a firm start date so for now I am assuming July 5th @ 5pm (a Saturday).  Once I have an exact time I will update the timer.

3/22/03 I have revised the Big Brother area quite a bit and included links to the TV Clubhouse archives from BB1 & BB2 and I also have posted the pictures from the TV Clubhouse archives for BB3.

I have also been busy trying to get my "Find a Show" page working, much thanks to "Zachsmom" from TV Clubhouse for helping me figgure out what the heck I am doing :)

3/18/03 Re-vamped my "Video Conferencing" page, added links and info to Netmeeting and 'other' video chat programs.

3/17/03 Used Macromedia Flash MX to create a countdown timer (see Bachelor Countdown at the right).  I hadn't messed with Flash since I created the "FOTH Cam" 18 months ago but it was fun to play with it.  Now I can very easily edit my template to create countdown timers for anything in the future :)

3/16/03:  Busy Busy Busy..... over the past couple days I have continued to work on the links and created a "Webring" that I hope some other reality sites will join.

3/14/03: Work begun on the "links" area of the site :)  Lots more to do but its a start!!

3/13/03: Created the "Casting Call" page, almost 40 shows listed with links to casting info.

3/12/03: TV Shows page up and running, almost 50 shows listed.  Links to be added soon.

3/11/03: Linked some of my old pages with the new site, installed the TVCH archives from Big Brother one and big Brother Two.

Thats it - this is when I first started the site :)
